Cameron's restaurant in Cosgrove, Northamptonshire
Closed as of 1/4/11
The very definition of a fine dining restaurant, Cameron’s burst on to the Northamptonshire restaurant scene in style recently and are already enjoying huge success. Set within the beautiful Navigation Inn, as a separate entity, the small and exclusive restaurant seats only twenty. The kitchen is headed by Dan Cameron, a young and talented chef who understands the very essence of food, the produce that goes into dishes, the skills necessary to skilfully butcher meats and has a fantastic grasp of flavour combinations, textures and presentation.
The creations born within the kitchen and presented to diners by the highly trained front of house team are nothing short of amazing. Thierry the restaurant manager is proud of his position and has an expert knowledge of the all the food on offer as well as the fantastic and well appointed wine list.
Diners are welcomed into Cameron’s and are ushered downstairs into a lounge area to enjoy a pre-meal drink and peruse a beautifully crafted menu. Take your time here as it is a tough decision. The Fillet steak, seared foie gras, chanterelles, baby onions, celeriac puree and cabernet sauvignon jus is to die for, but then there is also the Red Mullet with samphire, crushed ratte potatoes, artichoke, mussel and mullet ratatouille to tempt you.
Dan is a chef who takes pride in his presentation but lets the flavours take precedence and in all the dishes the flavour combinations, tastes and textures are second to none. For dessert diners are urged to go for the best panna cotta you will ever taste. Flavoured with buttermilk and with lemon sable, and rhubarb sorbet your evening’s dining experience could not be finished off any better.
The scary prospect of Dan getting even better as time goes by is a very real one, as the skill poured into these dishes comes from a natural talent. Diners are urged to book online soon, for the perfect top end dining experience, before a well-deserved Michelin star is handed to Cameron’s and the reservation waiting list gets too long.

Fantastic find. From the top;
Waiting area in the cellar is very nice, glass windows allow you to look into the kitchen and see the Chef working. Very good wine selection.
Food- Outstanding! The head chef has an absolute talent. His presentation is beautiful, flavours are incredible. Menu was short (I was advised this changes regulary dependant on ingredients available), but this made my wife and I try something new. For the first time she ate mushrooms and sweet breads, and I had a carpaccio of beef and pig cheek. Really good and glad that I tried something new. Sample menu items were also fantastic, never had Basil sorbet before, try it!
Ambience- Very good. As the restaurant is in the same building as a pub, you get a quiet but general 'people/bar' noise, which is actually nice! I guess this would vary if for example football were being shown!
Service- Very good
Value- You get what you pay for! Outstanding food and a very reasonable price for the high quality.
