The Fox is a friendly local pub and restaurant housed within a 17th century build. Situated in the very centre of the beautiful hamlet of Farthinghoe, it has been at the very centre of the community for years. Located just off Junction 11 of the M40, it is perfect for travellers from London to Birmingham, as well as locals.

Fresh from a renovation in April 2009, proprietor Mark Higgs had a simple ethos; to provide excellent, locally sourced and homemade food alongside quality real ales and fine wines. The Fox delivers this and more, providing great, reasonably priced food in a friendly pub environment. The Fox manages to effortlessly blend traditional design with contemporary; the old beams on the ceilings are offset by a neutral palette, quirky cast iron artwork on the walls, a stone fireplace and mismatched chairs give the dining room character and charm. The bar and lounge area is fresh with a vibrant mint green on the walls and comfortable armchairs arranged around the bar.

The kitchen team, headed by Paul Englishby, put their care and attention into every dish that leaves the pass. The best produce is selected, such as the 28-day matured steaks and free range pork and chicken. The menu offers classic British fare; hearty, warming and full of flavour. The delicious sharing platter starters such as the Charcuterie Board with continental meats, olives and sun blushed tomatoes come very highly recommended. The mains menu is packed with superb classic dishes such as a juicy prime sirloin of beef cooked to your liking with mushrooms, tomatoes and chunky chips, or a hearty game casserole with root vegetable mash. For vegetarians there are also some tasty options like the Ratatouille and Brie Filo parcel with roasted vegetables and for the younger diners, all main dishes can be served in a smaller, child-sized portion, perfect for satisfying their appetites.

The Fox at Farthinghoe is a real treat for all that cross its threshold. The dining space is bright and airy in the day time and, thanks to candle light, becomes cosy and intimate. Comfortable seating areas and the history of the building makes a wonderful venue for couples or group party bookings alike.
