The restaurant was decorated in some style for festiviries but the table was so bare it was uninviting. tablecloth and little on it. The starter was bared to the bone in terms of content and clearly they are trying to economise. the brixworth pate was cut so thin and was unappetisingly laid over lettuce no tomato no other saled no TOAST. My prawns were just in a ball coated with sauce and again on a miserly bit of lettuce and again no tomato. I was shocked. We have been there before and had fab food. The main course of beef was perfect. but I had to ask for serving spoons for the vegetables in a separate dish. The desserts were also lovely no complaints. We waited 20 minutes to pay and finally walked too reception to complain the service was patchy and rather disinterested. Lovely setting but not the great meals we have had in the past. Has the chef changed or maybe they are just cutting down.
