Oundle Mill restaurant in Oundle, Northamptonshire
Winners of the ‘Best Restaurant’ award at the Northamptonshire Food Awards 2010, Oundle Mill has a fantastic reputation for creating unique and stunning dishes using the very finest local produce. Situated halfway between Corby and Peterborough in the picturesque village of Oundle, there is no better place to head if you are looking for a countryside escape and spectacular food.
The restaurant and surroundings at Oundle Mill are nothing short of spectacular. The ancient mill overlooking an idyllic rural landscape has been brought into the 21st century, so that beautiful oak beams and stone walls are set off by modern and contemporary fixtures and fittings. From the warm welcome you receive at the reception desk, set on glass flooring with the stream rushing underneath, you will be struck by a unique ambience and subtle beauty of the sensitively restored building. Diners are able choose from the sophisticated upstairs restaurant or the more informal bistro dining area on the 1st floor both of which boast amazing views across the idyllic banks of the River Nene.
The kitchen, headed by Jeremy Medley, is a melting pot for innovation and quality where the team are encouraged to express their passion and natural talent to help build a top-class menu. Jeremy has been determined to become a chef since the age of nine after a long day spent baking fairy cakes. He won a scholarship in France and gained experience in 2-star London hotel and luxury country house venues before bringing his vast knowledge and creativity to Oundle where he fuses unique flavour combinations and local produce to bring stunning modern European cuisine to the tables of this boutique hotel.
The menus change frequently to reflect the seasonally available produce. In winter, Denham estate venison suet pudding served with red cabbage is perfect for putting the warmth back in to you after a day spent fishing. Or perhaps the slow cooked leg of lamb with white beans and tomato is what you’re looking for. A fine dining menu offers beautifully crafted dishes such as roasted seabass with morels, peas and marjoram that is not only a feast for the taste buds, but a feast for the eyes too. As a child-friendly venue, there is a children’s menu available in the downstairs dining room that offers the kid’s favourites in perfectly portions.
Oundle Mill is a spectacular restaurant that offers a stunning menu and fine produce. The service and passion that goes into making Oundle Mill what is it, is second to none so if you find yourself getting a little too comfortable, why not book yourself in to one of their well-appointed rooms and stay the night?

the main dish of sirloin steak was rather dry and disappointing, I would have expected a green veg as well as the roots. the frangipane tart was excelent otherwise a pleasant experience

My wife and I had the 3 course Sunday lunch special and thought it very good indeed. The only critisism on my part was that the piped mashed potato was heavy - not light and fluffy. Judy said that the spaghetti carbonara was the best she had ever had, and she has eaten it in Italy.

We went for Sunday lunch. The choice was superb, I would have enjoyed any one of the 5 main courses. As a sweet, the spiced cheesecake was orgasmic.

We had the most romantic meal at Oundle Mill out in the heart of the countryside. Highly recommended.
