The Snooty Fox, Lowick, near Kettering, Northamptonshire
The Snooty Fox is a traditional village pub and restaurant serving fresh, homemade food as well as fine wines and ales. It is situated in Lowick which is to the East of Kettering and South of Corby. It is a large venue which features a spacious garden area with benches and a children’s play area. With new owners and a modern makeover, The Snooty Fox is worth venturing outside of Northampton town centre for.
From outside The Snooty Fox looks like a traditional old pub that could be quite dark but once inside, it’s a whole different story. Light floods through this stunning venue, illuminating the stone floors and lifting the dark wood bar. The lounge area is separated from the dining room with a quirky feature stone wall and is packed with comfortable sofas and chairs that demand to be sat on. The separate A la Carte dining room is a more formal affair with chunky dark wood tables and white chairs. The original wooden beams are perfectly preserved and add a real charm and character to the venue.
The menu is anything but traditional pub grub. Whilst the cuisine is British through and through, the flair and imagination poured in to each dish puts the food on another level. Diners will be delighted with dishes such as pan seared fillet of sea trout on a bed of wilted spinach and served with a shellfish bisque and tempura coated samphire grass; wild mushroom, red onion and dolce latte cheese tart served with courgette ribbons and sun blushed tomatoes and roasted duck breast served with spring greens, glazed shallots, raspberry sauce and a balsamic reduction as well as a delicious selection of steaks.
If you are looking for hearty yet refined British cooking with idyllic views of the countryside, a visit to The Snooty Fox is highly recommended.
