The Walnut Tree Restaurant and Inn, Blisworth, Northamptonshire
Travel ten minutes outside of Northampton town centre on the A43 towards Towcester and you will find a little village called Blisworth that is home to The Walnut Tree. Built in 1850, this hotel was used to accommodate railway travellers on overnight stop overs. Today the Walnut Tree maintains its historic background but also features all of the modern amenities that the most discerning of traveller and diner is looking for.
The restaurant is a beautiful space which is light and airy by day and cosy and intimate by night. Heavy wooden tables and high-backed chairs compliment the homely dining room perfectly. The dining space is incredibly flexible, allowing it to be hired exclusively or split in to with up to 30 covers in each space. There is also an additional lounge that is packed with comfortable squashy sofas and a fireplace embedded in the exposed brickwork.
The Walnut Tree’s menu changes with each season, offering diners a superb selection of dishes featuring in-season produce, prepared in imaginative ways. The menu showcases traditional cooking methods and the Chef use the freshest, locally sourced produce to create memorable dishes that can be enjoyed at any time of the day. Browns of Rugby supply their great quality British meat and free range chicken. Favourite dishes from the menu include the Local Ale Battered Haddock with Phillips IPA batter, chips, peas and tartar sauce, Pan fried pork loin steaks with sage mash and an apple and cider sauce and Caramelised Red Onion and Pepper tart served with Moroccan style cous cous and a tomato relish.
As well as showing off their talent, the Chefs are also considerate, restricting the use of flour in sauces in preference of potato starch where possible, to allow those on Gluten free diets to have a wider choice of options.
The Walnut Tree is a lovely country escape and well worth a visit if you want to enjoy delicious food and countryside views.

Only just discovered this place despite driving on the M1 for over 40 years! Had a Sunday lunch here with family and was very pleased. Delicious food, no problem providing smaller plates for the children, bar was lively and the staff were very attentive. Will be making regular trips now we know it's there. Thank you!

Was shown to the table as soon as we arrived and were given a choice of some wonderful wines. Service was spot-on and friendly, enjoyed the pork loin thoroughly and my girlfriend said the burger she had was the best one to date! Well done on creating a lovely evening.
